Hindu Chaplaincy — Firmly on the Map

- Appeal to Supporters -

Namaste,

Picture a student, away from home, wrestling with identity issues and loneliness on a quiet campus night. Or a family gathered around a hospital bed, watching their grandmother take her final breaths.

For a non-Hindu, in these vulnerable, life-defining moments, someone always steps in to offer comfort. A Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or Muslim chaplain can be reached within minutes.

But for Hindus, too often, no one who understands the Hindu language of healing is there to answer that call.

The Hindu tradition is rich in “spiritual tools” to help with such times, honed over thousands of years of lived-practice. And yet, across the Diaspora, our community has continued to face crisis, grief, stress, and transformation without the spiritual tools and guidance of our own tradition. The HSCI global team is actively addressing this void — and needs your partnership to make it real.

2025 marks a historic breakthrough for professional Hindu Chaplaincy. Over 250 HSCI trained Hindu chaplains and counselors (CHTs) now stand ready to offer compassionate, culturally grounded care — care that speaks our prayers, understands our samskaras/practices, and honors our deepest values. The CHT course is also recognized by the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley — a WASC-accredited consortium of theological schools.

We’ve built a solid foundation — the training courses, the certification pathways, and the tele-chaplaincy infrastructure. Now we need your partnership to bring this care directly to the people who are waiting for it.

How Your Support Becomes Life-Changing Care

$7,500 — Sponsors an accredited MA (Master of Arts) Hindu Chaplaincy Fellow, opening doors for a committed student who wants to serve but faces financial barriers.

$10,000 — Brings one full year of Tele-Chaplaincy services to a university, hospital, or senior center, ensuring that Hindus in moments of crisis are never left without support.

Any amount — Strengthens a growing ecosystem of culturally grounded spiritual care for our youth, families, and elders.

Our Vision and Goals for 2026–2028

With your help, we will deliver Hindu chaplaincy services at 36 new institutions (universities, hospitals, and senior centers) across the United States and fund new fellowships to 12 chaplaincy students to become the next generation of Hindu spiritual care providers and leaders.

The need is urgent. The infrastructure is ready. Your support is the catalyst that turns possibility into care.
